This weekend I learned that it is worth my while to bring my camera out with me. I've always been hesitant to adventure with it because it's such a big responsibility. I feel like I'm doing that project in high school where they make you carry an egg around and not break it so that you learn what it's like to have a baby. But hey, having a baby shouldn't really stop you from having a good time either.
So I ran around for a few days and nights with my t2i and the only damage was a lost lens cap, worth it for all of the awesomeness that was captured. I'll work on upping the video action once I get some more memory. This recent photographic glory has given me the push I needed to start a blog. Hot damn, here it goes.
This weekend was a particularly exciting one because it was really the first Halloween I have celebrated in a proper, extreme manner. Last year, I had swine flu and as much as I would have liked them to be, will power and Robitussen were no match for the 102 fever. Of course I'll always be nostalgic for the too-cool-for-school annual mobbing of Windward with kids who are too old to trick or treat
But no Halloween in my life can compare to the well rounded weekend of fun that just happened. On Friday I learned that it is always a good idea to stick with Leah, she is amazing and attracts amazing people and does amazing things. I was planning on doing something else but I saw these two and knew they were destined for greatness
To get a better idea of the character...
So, off we went to the 560 club to see Vinyl Richie, Mat The Alien and Panty Raid. Extreme doesn't even begin to describe
I was even lucky enough to find a girl dressed as a character from one of my new favorite movies. She said she was a unicorn, but really...she nailed Uma Thurman as a whooping crane in Even Cowgirls Get the Blues way too perfectly.
Bright and early on sunny Saturday morning I donned a hot pink wig and we rallied the fun train to go sea to sky. We were lucky enough to start the day with a fall past time you rarely get to experience in Vancouver, frolicking in beautiful, dry, mildew-free fall leaves.
Once the Fun Train started rolling, the funt began to rain.
We picked up Scotty East in Squamish for a bit of fun in the outdoors. The theme of knuckle writing was set for the weekend.
After some adventuring, rain-drop catching and a little parking lot dance party, up up and away we went to Whistler to watch some beautifully done horror flicks at B-Grade Horrorfest. Luckily Alex dressed up as a tourist and had my camera around his neck the whole night and captured some fantastic imagery.
I woke up to this view on Sunday morning.
It was so beautiful I decided to jump of a bridge, but not before Bree and I got FREE FACE PAINT! I'm sorry, did I say free? We passed a sign that said "Face Painting, glitter, Tattoos. Come in and ask" so naturally I jump up and down, point and shout, "Oh my god look! There's free face painting in there!" Bree had a similar enthusiastic reaction; we went in, got our faces painted and then learned that it cost $5 each and that nowhere in sight was the word free. So then I decided to jump off a bridge.
On the actual holiday of Halloween I learned that my bathrobe makes me look like a Jedi and people are more scared of someone walking through a party with a kitchen knife than people running through the house with roman candles and sparklers...weird. No photos that I know of were taken.
